Visiting the Area?

Fleetwood is a town with a unique personality. Until the 19th century it was a tiny and insignificant village on the Wyre earning a meagre living from fishing. It later developed into one of the major fishing ports.

The history of the town owes much to the inspiration of one ambitious landowner, Sir Peter Hesketh-Fleetwood. His great vision resulted in the creation of the town - one of Lancashire's early 'new towns'. The buildings were designed by talented architects and many of these wonderful buildings remain, making Fleetwood unique.
